Once an unwanted pet baby crocodile flushed down the toilet into the city sewers, Leatherhead was mutated with the same ooze that transformed the Turtles. The mutagen gave him increased size, strength and intelligence. He was discovered and befriended by the Utroms, who were later separated in a disaster. He now spends his time trying to build a Transmat device to be reunited with his alien friends--when he's not helping the Turtles battle the evil forces of the Shredder and the Foot Clan.
